Carol Vorderman says adding butter to coffee is the secret to her weight loss


Carol Vorderman has shared the bizarre diet hack that helped the television star ditch the pounds.

The 60-year-old former Countdown star insists adding a spoonful of butter in her coffee has helped transform her intermittent fasting routine.

Sharing a clip on social media, Carol seemed excited to unveil the trick to her followers.

Explaining that it had been a ‘game changer’ the television star added that her weight has continued to drop off as a result.

Speaking to her fans on Twitter, Carol explained that she had completed her six mile exercise before cooking herself a tasty fry up.

“I tell you now I have never been less hungry in my life, because of a knob of butter in my coffee in the morning,” Carol said.

“So I’m doing this intermittent fasting thing. I’ve gone 20 hours without food, not felt a little bit hungry and I’m now having proper bacon – not the rubbish kind – and fresh, fresh, local eggs, everything local and I can’t wait.

She added: “And I’m dropping the weight. It’s brilliant this.”

Adding butter to coffee is a popular technique for those aiming to lose weight by ketosis. Fans say it helps them feel full and curbs cravings.

Alongside the video, Carol added a lengthy caption in which she opened up about the diet trick.

“So lots of you asking why butter in my coffee. Answer is I’m intermittent fasting #HUGEhealthBenefits and 1/2 teaspoon in black coffee is a GAME CHANGER,” the mum of two wrote.

“I tried fasting before & was always starving…this one hack is a game changer & weight is DROPPING OFF xx.”

Carol also later added a post in which she proudly showed off her tasty meal of bacon, eggs and avocado.

It is also not the first time that Carol has opened up about her intermittent fasting routine.

Last year, Carol explained on Twitter that she had started a routine of intermittent fasting as well as cold showers, as fans continued to compliment the star on her trim physique.

While Carol has explained to followers that adding butter to her coffee helped to aid her weight loss journey, there isn’t sufficient research into the potential benefits and risks of the drink.

According to Healthline, butter coffee is mainly associated with those following a keto diet and contains large amounts of fat.
