Carole Vorderman swears my keto and butter coffee for weight loss

Carol Vorderman claims adding a spoonful of butter to her morning coffee is her key to burning off excess weight.

The former Countdown star adds the fatty substance to a steaming cup of caffeine each morning, detailing the benefits it’s had on her intermittent fasting routine.

Vorderman, 60, shared her tip on social media, documenting her process in a short clip.

Calling the method a “game changer”, Vorderman wrote on Twitter, “I tell you now I have never been less hungry in my life, because of a knob of butter in my coffee in the morning.”

“So I’m doing this intermittent fasting thing. I’ve gone 20 hours without food, not felt a little bit hungry and I’m now having proper bacon – not the rubbish kind – and fresh, fresh, local eggs, everything local and I can’t wait,” she added.

Vorderman claimed the trick has seen her “dropping the weight.”

“It’s brilliant this,” she said.

The butter stimulates the body to go into ketosis, an increasingly popular form of dieting, where people eat high quantities of fat and protein.

The purpose of the ketogenic diet is to switch our bodies from burning carbohydrates for fuel to burning ketones instead

Australian dietitian Susie Burrell previously told 9Honey,  “It is not easy to achieve keto — there are very few foods to work with to achieve a 70 per cent fat diet which makes adherence and long term sustainability difficult.”

“Keto is also particularly low in dietary fibre and calcium.”

Vorderman shared her method on Instagram, writing: “So lots of you asking why butter in my coffee. Answer is I’m intermittent fasting #HUGEhealthBenefits and 1/2 teaspoon in black coffee is a GAME CHANGER.:

“I tried fasting before & was always starving…this one hack is a game changer & weight is DROPPING OFF,” the mum of two shared.

Vorderman explained on Twitter last year that she had begun intermittent fasting as well as cold showers.

If attempting to try a keto diet, the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council recommends limiting intake of foods and drinks containing added sugars, as they can increase blood pressure and weight gain along with the likelihood of developing chronic illnesses.
