De-worming week observed in Chittoor

Chittoor, Mar 3 (UNI) For children’s sound health , the district Health Department officials have observed National de-worming Week in the district following the National Deworming Day on Wednesday.

There are 8, 83, 950 students having age group 1 to 19 attending Anganwadis, schools and colleges in the district and the Health Department has supplied de-worming pills to all government and private schools and colleges in the district to administer tablets with students after their lunch in the presence of their teachers.

In a function at Municipal High School at Girimpet in Chittoor in connection with Deworming Day, District Medical and Health Officer(DMHO) Dr Penchalaiah who was attended as chief guest sought the teachers working in schools and colleges l to administer pills to their students for making their bowels worm free which help them in making them healthy and strong by improving blood levels in their body.

He said that during deworming week which started on March 3 and will observe till 9 deworming pills will be administered by the students at all Anganwadi centers, primary and high schools, colleges in the district and added that the students with age group 1-19 can have this pills.

After listing out risks due to worms in the human body including weight loss, appetite loss which finally leads to Anemia, he suggested the students to keep their hands clean before and after taking food apart from cleaning their hands with detergent after attending nature call.
