A fitness guru who made a name for himself on national television will be bringing his unique brand of exercise lessons to Ashbourne for the first time this month.
Jody Bunting, from Hatton, Derbyshire first rose to fame 20 years ago after he shed half his body weight and started presenting fitness sessions on Channel 4’s iconic morning show The Big Breakfast.
The 43-year-old now teaches fitness classes around Derbyshire as well as coaching weight loss clients online, and he will be introducing his fitness techniques to the people of Ashbourne, at the town’s leisure centre, after coronavirus restrictions ease on Monday, May 17.
He said: “I’m excited to start teaching in Ashbourne.
“I’ve never taught any classes here before, I have just been based in Derby and Burton for the last 25 years.
“Since the start of the Covid-19 lockdowns last year I bought a bike and was looking for local places to cycle.
“I spent most of last summer biking on the Tissington Trail from Ashbourne and as I now love the town so much I thought I would start some classes here.
“Most people have put on weight in the last year so it’s nice to be able to offer a real life practical solution to help people.
“I am one of the few people that has managed to get down from a huge weight with just diet and exercise.
“So many people have weight loss surgery or use fad diets these days and I’m pleased to show people it can be done by tweaking your lifestyle alone.
“Sleep and stress levels are just as important to work on as diet and exercise when it comes to fat loss.
“I am a big believer in a back-to-basics holistic approach, and it’s easy for the people of Ashbourne to get out in the fresh air when I recommend this as there are so many wonderful walks and parks here.
“I also love shopping in Ashbourne, from the bargain chickens at the Moy Park factory shop, to the local British fresh produce available at Aldi.
“I’m also a big fan of the towns Subway’s salads, a hot Almond Milk from Costa and the Rotisserie Chicken dinners at The Stepping Stones pub, which is delicious and healthy, well depending on what you have with it that is!
“I will be teaching at the Leisure Centre some fun Dance Fitness classes in the studio and some even more fun water aerobics classes in the swimming pool. I can’t wait.”
Jody’s classes start on Monday, May 17 and the current schedule at Ashbourne Leisure Centre is an 8pm AquaFit session, with DanceFit on Fridays at 6pm.
