‘My mother-in-law recommended exante – and I’ve since lost 10st’
Alex, 47, from Dundee started his journey weighing 23 stones and has now lost an incredible 10 stones after discovering exante.
He told how since using it, he’s noticed changes in the way he looks at food – and himself.
The most humbling part is the amount of positive comments I received
‘I’d seen a post on Facebook that said during lockdown you’d be one of four types of people: a monk, a chunk, a hunk or a drunk – and I was definitely a chunk!’ he recalled.
‘My mother-in-law was using exante and suggested I try it. I’d had enough of carrying all this weight around so thought, why not?
‘The most humbling part of the whole journey for me is the amount of positive comments I have received from people in the exante Diet Official Facebook Group and my colleagues at work.

‘Over 20 of my colleagues at work are also now on the plan and we all catch up and see how it’s going.
‘It’s great validation for exante and for all the weight I have lost. I am not a dieter by any standard, but it works!’
Alex started his exante journey in January last year, following the exante 800 plan.
His weight has dropped from 23st to an incredible 13st, and his BMI no longer places him in the ‘overweight’ category.
‘The hardest part was the first two weeks,’ he admitted. ‘Your body is changing and adapting to the lifestyle change, so be prepared for this!

‘I got through this by drinking more water and having cooked chicken breast in the fridge, so if I got hungry I would have a few slices, or a boiled egg.
‘My day always starts with walking the dog, not typically for long, but enough to blow the cobwebs away.

‘Then I have a coffee, always black with a sweetener.’
Alex told how before starting exante, he often didn’t bother with breakfast at home and would grab a bacon roll from the canteen at work on his break, then return for lunch.
‘The pancakes are delicious, and on a diet – really?!’ he said. ‘Breakfast normally fills me up until around lunchtime at about 1pm.
‘For lunch I always have an exante bar, with Salted Caramel being my favourite. I normally drink a couple of litres of water in the afternoon which helps me stay full and hydrated.
‘Now I’ve found I only really visit the canteen for a coffee as a treat. I feel more focused and alert at work than I did before.
‘Dinner in the evening is normally another shake at around 5pm and some more water. My favourite shakes are Banana and Strawberry & Banana.
‘It’s important to have a choice and be able to change your mind depending on how you feel and not be railroaded into one flavour because it’s all you have with you.
‘When I get home at just after 8pm I may have a two-egg omelette with some chicken breast and mushrooms, or a chicken salad – all under 200 calories and 10 grams of carbohydrates.’
Alex said for him, the key to sticking with exante has been variety and constantly trying something new, whether it’s a new flavour of shake or making it into biscuits or muffins.
Alex told how before starting exante, he often didn’t bother with breakfast. Now he either enjoys a shake before he leaves the house, or tucks into exante meal replacement maple syrup pancakes (pictured)
Alex said he’s also noticed a change in his skin, which is less greasy and spotty, and his double chins have ‘reduced’. Pictured left before and right after
‘You need to have something to look forward to and it’s fun trying them out!’ he said.
‘I’ve noticed changes in the way I was looking at food and myself. I was calorie counting and checking carbs before contemplating having anything, which helped re-educate myself on food.
Reap the benefits of intermittent fasting! Try the exante 5:2 Plan
If you found trying to manage your calories tricky on a traditional 5:2 plan then exante’s take on this diet is for you.
5:2 intermittent fasting basically means you eat a normal, healthy diet for five days of the week and fast on the remaining two. The benefits include regulated blood sugar, weight loss and improved digestion, as well as a protected immune system.
With exante your two fasting days are made easy. You’ll have three meal replacement products, plus high protein food from exante’s food ideas list, reducing your calories on those days to just 800.
‘I stayed away from processed food and went for fresh, healthier, lean choices. I even bought a fitness tracker and would challenge myself to reach new targets for walks every week.
‘Sometimes I’m successful, other weeks I’m not, but keeping up the focus has really helped me shift the weight.’
He added that he’s also enjoyed lots of ‘victories’ off the scales. ‘I saw a change in my skin – it was no longer greasy and spotty and the size of my double chins reduced,’ Alex explained.
‘I wasn’t breathless walking upstairs and was able to bend down properly without having to heave myself up. Lots of little positives that all add up to a huge win.
‘The best hint I can give to anyone starting exante is to read the How it Works eBook which is really informative and full of great ideas.’
Alex also advises against doing daily weigh-ins; instead, limit yourself to one a week.
‘I do mine on a Sunday morning and record my weight either on a manual chart or an app,’ he explained.
‘You might not think you’re losing, but tracking it will always give you a great indication and motivation.
‘Join the exante Official Facebook Group. I couldn’t have done this without the help, motivation and positivity of the group. There’s lots of great support and people all wanting to help each other succeed.’

‘I suffered from aches and pains and my joints were so sore. I used to look forward to bedtime so I could sleep the pain away.
‘I chose exante because it’s affordable, tasty and had worked for me in the past, however due to my own short-fallings, I slipped back into old habits and gained the weight I’d lost.
‘This time around I was determined to have a better game plan – to keep the weight off and maintain a healthy lifestyle.’
Nicole began her impressive weightloss journey in August 2019, following the exante 800 plan
While her weightloss hasn’t all been plain-sailing, Nicole said it’s been the single most rewarding thing she has ever done for herself – and she wouldn’t change a thing

‘exante has been an absolutely life-changing experience. It has helped me regain my health, my confidence and my mobility,’ she said.
Nicole gradually began introducing balanced, healthy foods back into her diet by downloading a calorie-counting app to help her keep track.
‘For breakfasts, I continued with my exante porridge while adding extras like banana and seeds,’ she explained.

Nicole said: ‘exante has been an absolutely life-changing experience. It has helped me regain my health, my confidence and my mobility’
‘I slowly increased my intake by introducing 100 calorie salads alongside my exante lunch. My salads consisted of mainly greens; peppers, cucumbers – always measuring and recording what I was eating.
‘Every two to three weeks I would increase my calorie allowance gradually, as well as my exercise.
‘Now, I allow myself 1,900 calories which helps me maintain my weight at a steady pace.’
