- Discount chemist has been exposed as an online scam in urgent public warning
- ‘Discount E Pharmacy’ sells a range of health-related products at a low price
- Shoppers have not received any explanation for product delays or a refund
- The online pharmacy does not appear to have a complaint handling process
Australian consumers have been told to avoid shopping from an online discount chemist as it’s revealed to be a scam.
The public warning comes after multiple customers did not receive the items they paid for from discountepharmacy.com.au, trading as ‘Discount E Pharmacy’, reported 9 News.
The warning was issued by the New South Wales Fair Trading Commissioner, Rose Webb, who saw a rise in complaints from unsatisfied customers.
The online pharmacy sells a range of health-related products for weight-loss and pregnancy, including vitamins, detox drinks, and skin and haircare products.

Many online shoppers reported their products had not arrived, with no explanation from the trader for the cause of the delays, said Ms Webb in her warning.
No financial redress has been offered to the customers, who consequently have to seek a chargeback option from their banks, for credit card purchases.
Ms Webb said the website does not appear to have a complaint handling process, making it difficult for customer concerns to be resolved.
‘Consumers have reported finding it very difficult to contact anyone at discountepharmacy.com.au to discuss the delays’, the warning said.
While the website lists an email address and phone number, customer reviews said the phone is never answered and gave no option to leave a voicemail message.

Multiple online reviews of Discount E Pharmacy revealed the high number of shoppers who had not received their items, with no financial redress or explanation.
‘Purchased items online worth over $150.00 paid in full never received products, nor any communication from retailer after several attempts by email and phone. Avoid this retailer at all cost’, one customer review read.
‘It was only after I put in a PayPal claim that I received my item (five weeks and three days later, on a Sunday). I purchased elsewhere as I needed it, and now have wasted $129. I’m a carer and can ill afford this loss’, another customer complained.
