Ray Hadley has revealed his weight ballooned to a whopping 114.5kg last year before a complete lifestyle overhaul saw him shed 18kg before his wedding to his new wife Sophie Baird.  

The 66-year-old radio king, who appears in this month’s issue of Men’s Health magazine, spoke openly about his lifestyle shift. 

‘I was embarrassed,’ Ray recalled of first time stepping on the scales last September.

‘The way I was going I probably wouldn’t had made 70,’ he added.  

Ray’s weight had been escalating for quite some time after rarely doing exercise and not watching his diet.

Ray would regularly eat a full English breakfast, nearly an entire loaf of bread and when eating out for dinner would order three courses.   

‘Guys my age. From the age of 50 or 60 – I’m 66 now – you just give up a bit, I suppose,’ the popular broadcaster admitted. 

 Ray said it was when he met with his weight loss coach, who informed him he could ‘have the body of a 120 year old’, it finally clicked and he got to work.

Ray ended up racking up between 60 and 90 kilometres per week. 

In addition to walking, he also overhauled his diet and committed to drinking two litres of water, daily.

He also started eating dinner earlier. 

By March this year, ahead of his wedding to former PA Sophie, Ray had dropped an incredible 18kg before heading to the altar at 96.5kg. 

Ray and Sophie married in front of family and friends at Saddles, a gourmet restaurant in Mount White on Saturday, March 27.

Among the 118 guests were Ray’s first wife Anne Marie and his three children Daniel, Laura and Sarah as well as Sophie’s children Nick and Jessie, from her first marriage. 

The, who chose not to have a bridal party, had to postpone their big day on three occasions last year due to Covid-19.
