Super slimmer Michelle Tinlin is all set to look fit and fabulous at 50 after losing six-and-a-half stone.
The 49-year-old from Keyworth – who celebrates her milestone birthday next year – began her weight loss journey back in 2016 when she weighed more than 16 stone.
Now the mother-of-one is a trim nine stone 13 pounds and has gone from a size 20 to a size 10 to 12.
Sharing her story to inspire others to shed those extra pounds, Michelle reveals how seeing a photograph of herself on a caravaning holiday in Spain was the wake up call to lose weight.
She says: “I’d piled on the pounds. I wasn’t going to the gym. I was probably just contented. I liked socialising and I just lost my way really.
“I decided I had to do something”.
After joining a slimming group, leaving, then trying again, the weight gradually came off.
“Before losing weight, I would grab anything,” she recalls. “I would probably miss breakfast. For lunch, I might go to the chip shop, or have a ready made sandwich, a bag of crisps, later have dinner, and I might have chocolate or popcorn watching a movie.
“Now I eat more probably because it is the right combination. This morning I had a mushroom, bacon and cheese omlette, later a fresh fruit salad, a banana, a plate full of vegetables with chicken, gravy and mint sauce”.
Before the first lockdown, Michelle and her family went into isolation early after daughter Holly was sent home poorly from school. It turned out to be tonsillitis. Michelle was overwhelmed by the kindness of her slimming group friends who left food parcels on her doorstep.
Lockdown meant Michelle, a manager for Amanda Findlay Eye Care in Keyworth and Ruddington, had more time to get her cookbooks out and be more adventurous with food.
“The family were loving it! We all ate the same things. The weight just kept coming off and coming off.
“I’m 50 next year, and wanted to be fit and fabulous at 50!”
Her efforts saw her being awarded the Women of the Year 2020 at the Keyworth Slimming World group, which she has now taken over as consultant from double gold Slimming World consultant Naomi Wagstaff.
Naomi said: “Michelle was doing really well and had lost two stone by the time group closed temporarily in March.
“She has continued to attend the virtual group each week and has lost a fantastic 1st 11lbs during lockdown to reach a current weightloss of 3st 11bs!
“Michelle motivates members daily on our group Facebook page with her creative menus and delicious desserts. I’m so pleased that Michelle has continued to stay focused and achieve these great results.”
