Step Up Scale Down weight-loss program to be presented virtually


The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will provide a virtual presentation of its Step Up Scale Down program for weight loss from March 8-May 24.

Step Up Scale Down weight management includes nutrition tips, exercise and healthy eating habits.

The program is a collaborative effort of AgriLife Extension offices in Travis, Hays, Caldwell and Bexar counties. It will be presented on the Zoom platform, with sessions from noon-1 p.m. on consecutive Mondays, beginning March 8.

Registration is $40 by March 3 and includes mailed educational materials such as handouts and two cookbooks.

“Step Up Scale Down is a 12-week program designed to guide participants toward weight management through the use of nutrition tips, exercise and weight-loss planners,” said Sonia Coyle, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent, Travis County. “This is a researched-based program that has proven success in helping people with weight management as well as building healthy lifestyle habits.”

Individual sessions topics include:

— Scale Down by Setting Goals.

— Step Up to a Healthy Plate.

— Scale Down by Label Reading.

— Step Up to Breakfast and Menu Planning.

— Scale Down with Moves to Lose.

— Step Up Your Hydration.

— Scale Down by Finding Your Motivational Mojo.

— Step Up to Healthy Snacking.

— Scale Down with a Colorful Plate.

— Step Up to Successful Socializing.

— Scale Down by Knowing Your Numbers.

— Step Up and Celebrate.

There will be incentives for those who attend at least 10 sessions, as well as a $10 gift card for those who achieve their weight goal.
